A monster truck has immense off-road abilities but perhaps, sheer speed isn’t one of them. Let’s put it this way: it can run over most barriers and crush smaller vehicles beneath its massive tyres and huge suspension, however, all of that happens at a surprisingly low pace.
It is surprising, then, to imagine such a vehicle hit nearly 160kmph. Well, that is exactly what the ‘Raminator’ achieved recently at the Circuit of The Americas. The 4.7-tonne vehicle, in fact, managed a top speed of 99.10mph (159.4kmph), thereby setting a new Guinness World Record to claim the title of the world’s fastest monster truck.
The firepower used to set the record run was a 9.2-litre supercharged HEMI engine putting out more than 2000bhp of power.
According to Hall Brothers Racing President and Crew Chief Tim Hall, “Taking on the challenge of breaking a world record has been an experience we will never forget. We continue to add to our achievements and are honoured to now be a Guinness World Records holder.”
