Be it a big old American muscle or a finely built Italian exotic, driving a truly great car can stimulate the senses and quicken the heartbeat. Lexus, however, has gone up a notch and made something that directly translates the driver’s heart patterns into a visual display across the bodywork.
What you see here is a one-off RC F, the result of collaboration between Lexus Australia and the creative agency M&C Saatchi. What makes this particular example different from all the RC F coupes across the world is heap loads of technology that has been integrated into the car to monitor the driver’s heartbeat and use the data captured to send an electric charge through the bodywork.
The body panels are finished in an electro-luminescent paint, by the US specialist Luminor, which reacts to the charge with an intense glow, pulsing in the same rhythm as the driver’s heart rate.
Now this is just a one-off and we are glad Lexus isn’t putting this tech into production. Otherwise, we would eventually end up with roads full of ludicrously glowing cars and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.
