I am sure there are lot of us who fear our car being towed by traffic police in India. Not because of the fine they impose on us, but it is because of the way our car is handled by the outsourced towing agency. They don’t care about the front bumpers, neither they care about our doors (they use a flat object to unlock the door). And sometimes we do argue with the cops who are responsible for the towing, but most of the time it falls on deaf ears. But something interesting happened in England.
A guy named Matthew Sanders had parked his car in a disabled parking bay in Birmingham City Centre. This invited a parking fine, which he was quite okay to pay. But soon he realised that his car will be towed by the traffic authorities. So what he did was, he jumped inside the car, which was on the back of the tow truck and protested this action. He was inside the car for almost eight hours. The cops were called to handle the situation, while Sanders enjoyed some food given by the bystanders. Sanders said they the reason he did this was because he couldn’t pay the release fee for the car. However, a local police official worked out a compromise and his car was release by paying the parking fine.
What if something like this happens in a city like Mumbai? You really think the police officials will deal in such a way? Do leave your comments.
