When I was a kid, I always had a soft corner for my father’s Java 350. Because of my age, I never got to ride it but managed to experience the bike on the pillion seat. When I grew up, I had enough money to buy one, but the problem is that this bike is rarely seen these days, leave buying one.
Jonathan Brand had a similar story to tell. But for him, the bike he so desired was the 1972 Honda CB500. He loved the motorcycle so much that he built one. Not in a small assembly line using metal components but by using a 3D Printer. This new technology has already revolutionised the world by making things very accessible to analyse and research in order to make products better.
Jonathan used the same technology to convert his dream into a real life experience. The life-size replica was printed using 18 rolls of 1mm thick plastic, taking its total weight to only 18kg. It took Jonathan anything between four and 12 hours, to print the entire motorcycle. With the help of glue, the bike came alive.
Check out the video below and enjoy the 3D printing experience.
PS: 3D printers are very expensive. Do not try to empty your bank balance for the same.
