Talk about bad timing! This mechanic who probably thought that a sweet ride for the weekend would make him a hit with the girls landed in the soup when the owner of the Audi S4, he ‘borrowed’, called in to check on his car.
It's an Audi and Audi car owners are pretty possessive about their rides. Why, shouldn't they be? The product of German engineering is also a symbol of luxury and style. Chris Jackson had his car "missing" from the dealership in Calagary and he did not get an answer until the cops were called. After realising he had left something in the car, he returned to the dealership only to find the car missing. The dealership initially said it would be in the parking lot somewhere, and the owner spent more than two hours looking for his white sedan.
Only when the owner threatened to call the police, did the related dealership get down to tracking the car. Calls were placed to every man in the pipeline and finally it emerged that one of the technicians had taken it home for the weekend. The dealership informed him that the technician took it home to check the NAV system for an extended period. This excuse surely did not go down well with the owner of the Audi S4 and he is pressing charges.
Remember the Bollywood movie, Joh Jeeta Wohi Sikander. There Aamir Khan gets his girl with the ‘borrowed’ olive green open-top Gypsy, but in the case of the mechanic here, he got the cops following him. The technician drove around 500 kilometres on the car, while he borrowed it.
Experiences at car dealerships or workshops can be harrowing and considering the shock the Audi owner must have got it’s a big breach of trust.
Has anything of this sort happened to you? Would you be okay if your car were sent out from the service centre for ‘such long periods of testing?’
