Sweaty palms, furrowed forehead, a panic stricken look, fervent attempts to look back and forth in the rear-view mirror, it seems like you have got an acute case of parallel parking fear on your hands. For stunt driver Han Yue it’s a walk in the park.
Proof of that being the Guinness World Record he broke this week. Yes, in fact, he regained the Guinness World Record for the tightest parallel park, squeezing a Mini hatchback into a space only 3.15 inches longer than the car.
More than 1,000 spectators gathered to watch the China Drift Championship and among the squeal of tyres and smell of burning rubber, the audiences were treated to a different feat- the art of parallel parking.
Han’s feat shaved .24 inches off the previous record set by British driver Alastair Moffat in July, 2013. The stuntman in him did not waste time doing just that. He then teamed up with fellow stunt driver Zhang Shengjun to set a new record for the most doughnuts around a car driving on two wheels in one minute. Ah! The sweet taste of success.
