Anyone who has driven through our country’s narrow intercity roads and highways knows how difficult and unsafe it can be to overtake slow moving trucks. Looking past the blind spots to check for oncoming traffic can be a pain, though Samsung reckons that it has figured out a way to overcome this problem.
Behold the ‘Safety Truck’. Thistechnology allows you to virtually ‘see through’ the vehicle with the help of a camera and four displays attached to the rear of the truck. The camera records the view from the front and transmits it to the four displays at the back, giving you a clear view of what lies ahead. This technology helps drivers to identify the oncoming traffic, helping them plan their moves and making overtaking manoeuvres much safer. The camera is equipped with a night vision, which means it can function properly even during the night.
Though the prototype truck hasn’t been put into operation, Samsung claims that the technology is functional and can help in avoiding a huge chunk of accidents. Check out the video released by Samsung, which demonstrates the technology.
