The last time you went to a water park, were you able to gather your wits and get on to a speed slide? Imagine going through such a speed slide at more than 100kmph and getting hurled into the air, on a motorcycle. Seems scary, doesn’t it? Well, not for Robbie Maddison. While most of us might chicken out even with a mention of speed slides and ramps, freestyle motocross rider Robbie has entered the record books by riding off an Olympic size ski jump, at Utah.
The 33-year old Australian, nicknamed 'Maddo', took on a bobsleigh track at the Utah Olympic Park, and rode off the ramp, travelling 114 metres. Exiting the ramp at over 113kmph, Robbie set a new world record for the largest vertical drop by plunging over 56 metres. Among other accolades, Maddison also holds the world record for the longest motorcycle jump in history.
The video released by his sponsors show Maddison fooling around park before entering the top of the bobsleigh track. Then the video takes you through the exhilarating seconds of Maddison getting onto the slide on his KTM, jumping of the ramp and descending to the landing slope on the ground level. Check out the video that has got us all psyched.
