Let's be honest, we all, as kids, have fantasised this happening. We would be lying if we said that we have never wished that we could print the car or motorcycle that adorns our desktop wallpaper and drive it! This is 2014, 3D printing is slowly shaping what could become the future of manufacturing, and things have just got real. A US Company that goes by the name Local Motors, has recently unveiled the World's first 3D-printed electric car!
Buyers would be able to select their car, motorcycle from their computer screen, and all they have to do is hit the print button. A giant 3D Printer would then spew Carbon Fibre - reinforced plastic and start weaving the car out of thin lines of paste that harden to form the chassis, and the bodywork. This is no science fiction, and to prove this, Local Motors created a car nicknamed Strati in 40 hours and kept it for display at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. We hope, someday, in the distant future, we at CarWale can have downloadable cars, until then, check out the cool video about the World’s first 3D printed Car: Strati.
