The seventh edition of the Parx Supercar Show was held on January 11 and 12. The annual gathering of Mumbai and Pune’s finest bred mechanical stallions saw many of the regular entrants make their presence felt and it also included superbikes and most importantly the one and only Ferrari La Ferrari.
The first part of the two-day event saw a static display at the grounds of the Royal Western India Turf Club or as it is known to lesser mortals- the Mahalaxmi Race Course.
Given the fanciness of the event (and me wanting to be economical with my words) I have decided to go on a name dropping spree to quickly given you an idea of the list of cars on display.
Some of the models were the Audi R8, BMW M4, M3 and M5, Mercedes-Benz SLS-AMG, Porsche 911 and of course the Nissan GT-R.
Oh there was even a Godzilla painted in the famous Nyan Cat Blue shade made famous by the car that Nissan gifted to EDM artist DeadMau5 last year.
The non-sporty but still just as exotic list included the Bentley Continental, Rolls-Royce Phantom and a sprinkling of RS spec Audis.
What got my colleague Pratheek and I really excited were some of the really rare cars like the Aston Martin N430, Ferrari 348 (which was there last year), Lamborghini Murcielago and obviously the Ferrari LaFerrari which was phenomenal!
In all its 6.2-litre V12 glory this red monster was just a few inches off the ground and pretty much soaked up the attention without missing a beat, it’s a different story that the car was not started up or driven around.
The second day saw the supercars take their annual circuit parade from the Race Course to Bandra Reclamation via the Sea Link. The journey was obviously marked by many photographs, wild fans and a few untoward incidents which by the look of things did not spoil the show as such.
Speaking on the occasion, Gautam Hari Singhania, founder and chairman of Super Car Club said, "We are happy that the two day Supercar extravaganza has culminated as we showcased 100 Super cars and 25 super bikes to automobile enthusiasts who had gathered from around the country. The seventh edition was even bigger and we are thrilled to witness the popularity of this only super car show in the country."
