Need help for parking in a tight spot?
Well, help is near. Earlier this month Ford Europe has released this video of a new automated parking technology that can enable drivers to park with only a push of a button.
Think of this technology the next time you want to park in a tight spot where you cannot get out of the door, even if you get the car in the space. The solution is simple – park your car from the outside. This Full Assisted Parking Aid is a follow-on to Ford’s Active Parking Assist. It uses ultrasonic sensors to scan for an open parking space and once it finds a suitable spot it alerts the driver, who can stay in the car or get out and use a remote to finish the parking job.
The car would automatically switch gears, accelerate, steer, and back itself in to the parking space. The driver’s function is to just keep his or her finger on the button during the maneuver.
While we have seen similar technologies before, having Ford in the game means that these technologies are likely to be affordable as well as available to the masses.
