If you're a fan of what is undoubtedly the golden era of rallying i.e. the short-lived Group B and if you're fairly well off – you might want to read on. A brand new 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale is going under the hammer next month at Silverstone Auctions in the UK.
This particular example is ‘brand new’ and it is being offered at auction for the first time. Rather unsurprisingly, the 1992 model has only ever been driven on the road once on its journey from the dealer to the current owner, where it has been kept in pristine condition for the last 22 years.
Finished in white with the iconic Martini livery, the car is one of a limited run of just 400 units that were produced to celebrate the Integrale’s fifth consecutive World Rally manufacturers’ championship for Lancia.
For many, the Delta Integrale is among the finest rally homologation specials. In a bid to improve the car’s handling, the ‘Evoluzione’ homologation specials featured a wider track at both the front and rear than earlier Deltas. In order to fit the track into the bodywork, the wide wheel arches were extended even further. To compensate for a slight increase in weight and larger frontal area, the 16 valve turbocharged engine was remapped to deliver an impressive 210bhp of power which meant the car could travel five per cent quicker on both tarmac and gravel rally stages.
Representing the 124th example of the total 400 units, the car is currently unregistered and is complete with its original service book, manual, sales invoice and tool kit. One can safely bet it will not go cheap with estimates between £90,000 (Rs 84 lakh) and £110,000 (Rs 1 crore); however, will it be worth it? Of course it will be!
