There are more used Porsche 911s than any other classic sports cars around the world but very few can match up to the novelty of this particular 1984 911 you see here. Finished in a rather unique shade of orange, this 911 Carrera 3.2 belongs to Top Gear presenter James May. And he’s decided to let go of it.
Having borrowed it back in 2007 during the recording of BBC Radio 4 documentary 'Speed, Greed and the M25', May found it to be in an excellent condition, so much so that he bought it on the spot.
Since then, the car has appeared on screen, in the 'Airfix' episode of 'James May's Toy Stories' and in the Top Gear online film called 'James drives to work'.
“It was donated to my dad to use for the past four years, as he never owned a proper sports car. Recently he decided that he was getting on a bit to be seen in a retro stockbroker's car, and my mother hated it,” James revealed.
The Carrera 3.2s of that particular era are now highly sought-after and for several good reasons and finding one is not that easy. To come across such an example, then, is pure heaven.
If only I could afford to buy and run it.
