You have been warned! No, nothing serious but just a new technology being developed by Chevrolet.
At the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, Chevrolet announced a new high-tech solution that will help identify problems with your car before they threaten to disrupt your driving or cause any other problem.
The technology will make its way to 2016 model year vehicles, the technology is initially just focused on the car’s battery, starter motor and fuel pump. Additional vehicle parts and components are expected to be added in the future.
“This is a new chapter in our pursuit to provide customers with convenience and the best overall service in the industry,” said Alicia Boler-Davis, GM senior vice president of Global Connected Customer Experiences. “Using our innovative OnStar 4G LTE connectivity platform, we can actively monitor vehicle component health and notify our customers if covered vehicle components need attention.”
If a component is found to be faulty or at risk of causing an issue, GM will notify the driver via an email, text message, in-vehicle alerts or through the OnStar RemoteLink smartphone app.
Furthermore, the company announced that its OnStar RemoteLink app will get a new service that can send a monthly report to car owners. This report will point out the vehicle’s tyre pressures, oil life and other key maintenance information.
This is quite an essential technology being launched by Chevrolet. While informing drivers about the well-being of their cars, it can go a long way in preventing potential damage to the car and its occupants.
