The Dark Knight has always been a warrior without ‘gifts’. A man without super powers, his brand of justice over the decades has been meted out using brute physical force and in the modern times with effective and advanced technology.
Among his arsenal of toys none is more famous than the Batmobile. The noble steed that carries the Dark Knight to the scene of crime, it has been seen in various forms over the years. It began as a humble sedan in the 1940s and over the years became a highly specialised vehicle by the 1990s.
The one that will trigger good memories for most of the generation that grew up in the 1990s is the Batmobile from the spoof 1960s version of the crime fighter’s escapades. However, for the more modern generation, it will be the tank-like ‘Tumbler’ that was the mechanical protagonist in part 1 of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.
Now, there is a new one that will transport an older but more experienced Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) in the Zach Snyder directed Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice which will hit screens on March 25, 2016. After pictures of the vehicle, spotted on set, surfaced on the interweb, the facia was officially revealed by Snyder on his Twitter page.
At first glance, the overall effect portray’s a more apocalyptic time for the crime fighter. It is a two-seater aerodynamically designed car with large truck like wheels that are encased in mud huggers just to lend to the machine look.
The batmobile, from what we can see, will have the usual array of weapons in addition to some physics bending manuverability. It appears to be smaller than the tumbler and in all likeliness far more agile in the hands of the Dark Knight.
It gets two guns in front and a lot of the underpinnings exposed giving a very industrial feel to the whole car. Batman will obviously sit on the left side and have a bunch of touchscreens to access various functions in the car while the overall feel of the cabin will be very Formula 1 car like.
The Tumbler is powered by a 5.7-litre GM V8 and we expect that this car will be no less but is likely to be powered by a smaller engine due to the vehicle being smaller and lighter. It is expected to be mated to an AT box which will send power to all four wheels for increased grip and agility.
It is an exciting time to be a Batman fan as the series has taken a dark turn and evokes a far greater story than before in the DC multiverse. We will give you more as the details emerge and can only think that you are as excited to see this vehicle as we are.
