We Indians are a quirky lot when it comes combining strange things. Our imagination knows no bounds when it comes doing this and one such example is Gugulotu Lachiram from AP who has on a fancy and we suspect in the midst of a mid-life crisis, decided to combine his two passions of practicing Yoga and riding a motorcycle. The result is an extremely dangerous and rather reckless spectacle of both being done together.
Gugulotu claims that he was inspired by performers doing similar stunts on National Television, which by our understanding is the armed force bike stunt display conducted during the parades on August 15 and January 26.
The ‘stuntman’s’ modus operandi is to do a variety of Asanas on the back of Honda Shine while it is in motion. This would not seem so bad if weren’t for the fact that he dons no protective gear (apart from a pair of shoes) and rides around a stretch of rural public road where he has to deal with not just people but also with cattle and stray animals. He has justified the lack of gear by saying it would kill the spectacle.
While this may seem exciting, we urge you as a responsible reader to always wear protective gear, ride smartly and safely following all the rules of the road. Mr Gugulotu claims that he has had an uninjured run for as long as he has been doing the bike yoga and we hope that this will continue forever. However, we also wish that in the future he will purchase protective gear and limit his stunting to a controlled environment.
