While a little while ago we told you about the stolen Bond cars, the internet has been abuzz with queries regarding the new car that will feature in the new James Bond film Spectre. While Fiat 500 was supposed to be in the movie, it is still not ‘the car’ that Bond will be using and not even the Range Rovers mentioned earlier. Millions of fans tuned in live to see the reveal of the Bond car, cast and movie title.
The Aston Martin remained the best bet till the unveiling, knowing the spy’s penchant for them and remaining true to their 50-year partnership, the franchisee has chosen the Aston Martin DB10 as the Bond car. Aston Martin had, in August, applied for trademarks for the names DB10 through DB14, likely for the successor to the DB9 and now we know. The DB10 concept has been specifically designed for the Spectre Bond film and will be limited to just 10 examples.
It might carry the same 5.9 litre, V-12 engine from the DB9 and could be tweaked to become faster and lighter. We hope to see the power figures inching towards the 550bhp mark bringing it in competition with the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Huracan. While not much has been revealed about the car's specs, we do expect a new platform for the DB10 as the DB9 was launched in 2004 and 10 years is a long time to see something new from the Aston factory. The platform will probably be lighter to suit the Bond image as well.
Previously James Bond has driven cars from the Alfa Romeo, AMC, Aston Martin, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, BMW, Rolls-Royce and more. The spy has been known to drive stylish and exotic cars. Prominent among them were the Aston Martin DBS, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Aston Martin DB5, the Ford Mustang Mach 1 and the Lotus Espirit.
Though the car revealed today is a hardtop, we would love to see a Volante DB10 soon. Aston Martin will be soon releasing the details of the car and we shall get it for you as soon as it arrives.
