Honda has been arranging the Drive to Discover event for a couple of years now. The previous iterations included their Brio and Amaze, but this year, for the fifth edition of their event they chose their latest entrant to the MPV segment - the Mobilio.
So while we drove the Honda Mobilio across some parts of the Indian peninsular region in the south of India, this road trip through the misty trails in the region left us with good memories. I can now relate to my friend who had said that being in Southern India is like being on a different planet.
The beautiful locations served as a scenic backdrop for the MPV to pose. The roads that we took, be it the national highway or the state highways, the long straight driveways, the broken village roads, the several hairpin bends on the hill highways to the adventurous roads in the tiger reserves, every path led us to many exotic locations on the way.
These pictures might not be able to justify how it feels like being there, but they will give you a glimpse of what one can vouch for. Check out these scenic views with nature at its playful best.
1. Nilgiri Hills
The winding roads that took us up the hills of Nilgiri were nothing short of epic. If the tea and coffee plantations along the road on the ghats weren’t amazing enough, the colourful trees added to the magic of the vibrant surroundings.
2. Kabini reservoir
The huge water reservoir at Kabini was soothing enough for a much needed break amidst the hot and humid climate of the region. The Mobilio happily poses while the waterbody becomes a good background for this picture.
3. Streets of Bylakuppe
Bylakuppe is a place in Karnataka, which has many Tibetan refugee settlements. The typical Tibetan building constructions and arches transport one to a different setting altogether.
4. Tiger reserve at Bandipur
This is not really one place where anyone would recommend halting the car for a picture knowing that there might be a predator in the vicinity, including tigers and elephants. But while we were fixing a puncture, the leafless trees, winding roads and no other vehicle in sight for several kms, we quickly managed to take some pictures.
5. Helipad at Madikeri
We were scouting for a shoot location in the less explored regions of Madikeri, where we came across this helipad after a long treacherous route to the top of this private golf course.
