No, we aren’t talking about Angelina Jolie or Nicholas Cage. The 1967 Ford Mustang, or ‘Eleanor’, as it is fondly called, from 2000’s blockbuster movie ‘Gone in 60 seconds’ is going to be auctioned off at Mecum Auction’s collector car auction in Austin, Texas.
This specific Mustang is the number seven of the 11 vehicles built by Cinema Vehicle Services of North Hollywood, California for the movie and is the only surviving driveable car (as the rest were destroyed during the making of the movie) which starred Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie. Dressed to look like a Shelby GT500, this car was on the market last year, when it was sold to the current owner for an eye-popping USD 1 million.
Given the car’s popularity (and the current economic condition), we expect the car to attract even higher bids, as it goes under the hammer between December 12 and 13, this year. This Mustang is powered by a 5.8-litre V8 engines sourced from Ford. The car comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Cinema Vehicle Services founder and president Ray Claridge. Besides Eleanor, the auction will also feature other luscious American muscle cars, hot rods and other restored classics. Wish to drool more at these cars?
