The Traffic laws in our country are as lenient as a nursery school. While our traffic cops share the same enthusiasm as the rest of the world, what has emerged today might just blow your mind. German football star Marco Reus has been fined Rs 4.19 crore (€5,40,000) for traffic violations over a period of three years.
This fine would seem other-worldly to the average India as we aren’t sure if anyone in India can be penalised and then asked to pay more than Rs 10,000. Also consider the fact that this much money will get you a 3BHK flat in a posh locality in Mumbai or the other metro cities in India.
Considering all of this, it obvious that we must ask as what kind violations did Marco commit to incur a fine of this nature? It seems like Reus was driving without a license for three years and has been caught speeding five times.
Reus is believed to has regretted and also admitted that he has learnt his lesson. While we believe that it is a little too late to come back from this, it seems almost obvious that Reus, thanks to this profession, has enough dough in his bank account to clear the fines.
