It’s a yellow, wet, Wednesday here. But here’s some laughter to spice up a gloomy morning. Presenting Barbie Jeep Racing. It’s plastic, dangerous, it’s unpredictable and its fun!
As the name suggests, anything that begins with Barbie just cannot be taken seriously and at first thought it brings to mind a Barbie doll put into a jeep and pig-tailed girls egging their doll to win. So how can it be dangerous? Here’s the truth of the matter.
Barbie Jeep Racing began in 2012 when a group of off-road enthusiasts took to the hills at Morris Mountain ORV Park during an RBD event in Heflin, Alabama for some ‘extreme’ kind of racing. A dangerous downhill challenge completed using plastic toy vehicles. To compete in the race, you must “take a power-wheels vehicle, break off the drive gear, go to a steep hill, climb aboard and drive/roll yourself and the vehicle down the hill till you or the vehicle reaches the finish line first. In process be prepared for some mudslinging, slush stomping, stray vehicle parts, lone rolling tyres, broken bones, bruised egos, battered vehicles and lots of laughter.
Keeping in mind how dangerous this ridiculous event is, children are not allowed to participate and men and women of all ages are allowed to roll to the finish line. Here’s a glimpse of how it has been happening till now. Watch this one-of-a-kind race:
In case you are planning to do this in your backyard, we do recommend you wear protective helmet and crash gear to minimise any injuries you may incur during this race.
