It’s a given thing that practical or affordable cars are commended the most; however, cars that don’t make much sense are the ones that surprise you the most, and the bonkers Range Rover Sport SVR appears to be one of those cars.
Developed by Jaguar-Land Rover’s Special Vehicles Operations division, the Range Rover Sport screams performance from every bit of its 5-litre V8 motor and the aerodynamically enhanced bodywork. As a reminder, it is the most powerful Range Rover built till date. It uses an up rated version of the brand’s 5-litre supercharged V8 engine, which has been tuned to deliver 550bhp of power and 680Nm of torque.
So when former Autocar UK Editor Steve Sutcliffe decided to have a go in it, he not only put the massive 2.3-tonne SUV through its paces, but also decimated the laws of physics with ludicrous four-wheel drifts and some mid-air action, as seen in the video below.
