This seems like a problem only James Bond can solve. Before the world’s most popular spy gets back to chasing goons in his swashbuckling style, for the new movie Bond 24, his assistance might be needed in solving this crime. Some really daring thieves have managed to escape with a set of five modified Range Rovers Sports that were to appear in the upcoming Bond film.
According to Wirtshaft Woche, the movie cars along with four other vehicles - including a Range Rover Evoque - were stolen from a parking lot at Jaguar Land Rover's training facility in Neuss, Germany. In total the stolen Range Rovers are valued at an estimated at roughly $985,000. Since the October thefts, the movie cars have been replaced and no production delays were reported. So James Bond will be on his way.
According to Spiegel, the Range Rovers were awaiting transport to the Alps and according to the grapevine, the cars were heavily modified for specific stunt purposes, including features such as easy-shatter front windshields and collapsible front suspensions. Sadly, the thieves have not been caught as yet.
"Car thefts are unfortunately an industry-wide problem, since European legislation requires that automakers must make the vehicle data of its diagnostic system available," said a spokeswoman for Jaguar Land Rover, Germany, after the incident.
