As kids, most of us must have played with building blocks and legos, creating whole new objects with our imagination, and when it comes to advertising, car manufacturers seem to use the same fervour reinventing the way we interact in the virtual world and use it to promote their cars.
Earlier this week we saw an interesting way of using the social platform, YouTube, to promote the Honda Civic Type R, and today, we stumbled upon another such interesting campaign. We are sure you would have seen a lot of cool stuff on Instagram (http://instagram.com/carwaleindia) but Mercedes-Benz USA has used this popular photo-sharing social media website, to reach out to its customers.
To celebrate the launch of the all-new 2015 GLA, they have created a "Build Your Own Car tool" on Instagram, allowing the user to customise the compact SUV in just a few taps. It is simple, yet a brilliant way of engaging the customers.
In the case of cars, most automobile enthusiasts make sure that their ride/drive reflects a bit of their personality and that is where customisation comes in. Some manufacturers allow the customer to choose the colour, or the quality of the interior and that too in the confines of the showroom, under the beady eyes of the eager salesman waiting to rip you off for that particular customisation. But with this Instagram tool Mercedes has come up with a superb idea which allows the user be more involved with the brand. So no showroom, and no salesman to cramp your style.
Get tapping already with this tool. Just follow the instructions on screen and you will get to choose the colour, the wheels, the roof and the front grille for your ride.
While the physical feeling of having your creation is missing in this case, the admiration by your Instagram followers makes up for it.
