Now before you go “My eyes! My eyes! What is that thing?” let me tell you that this is the Bienville Legacy – a motorcycle that is as much of an eyesore as it is a design masterpiece.
Born from Bienville Studios based near the Gulf of Mexico, the Legacy has been in development for over three years and is undoubtedly one of the most controversial two-wheeled designs ever produced. There is a method to the designers’ madness though.
The Legacy goes a step forward in motorcycle design with patented suspension leveraging one composite leaf-spring with the engine mounted at its centre. Thanks to the exotic arrangement of the carbon-composite blades, one can adjust the rake and trail for the first time on a production motorcycle.
And it’s not a case of ‘All show and no go’ as the motorcycle is fuelled by a 1,650cc American V4 engine. The firm has revealed that the production models will be supercharged and will produce up to 300bhp, making it one of the most powerful motorcycles ever.
Three concept models have been produced to-date, with each built using an exquisite bill of materials such as titanium, carbon fibre, leather and mahogany. The Legacy, then, is almost an unreal piece of machinery.
If only it didn’t look so otherworldly.
