Before we allow the weekend to happily creep up on us, we bring you a fast-paced Thursday drama to get your spirits soaring.
The fantastic Middle East never ceases to amaze; if you are not gaping over its marvellous architecture and overflowing coffers then supercars driven by rich Arabs are bound to hold your attention. Today’s video gives us a mix of both – a swashbuckling race car and the world’s tallest tower. The two were brought together courtesy a challenge thrown by Audi to Arabia using the RS 7. It was to race against the elevator of Dubai's Burj Khalifa.
To cut to the chase, here you have the Audi RS 7 which claims of doing the 0-100kmph sprint in 3.9 seconds. It gets this power thanks to the spectacular twin-turbo 4.0-litre V-8 that makes 560hp, a performance-tuned eight-speed automatic, all-wheel drive, and a lowered suspension. It was driven by Edoardo Mortara, Formula Three Euroseries champion, two-time winner of the Macau Grand Prix and now Audi Sport Team Driver.
The opponent, an elevator of the Burj Khalifa. Here’s a little something on the famous elevator: The Burj has the world's fastest double-deck elevator. It boasts of a maximum elevator speed of 10 metres per second (1,969 feet per minute). The racing here was to be done by Musa Khalfan Yasin, UAE’s fastest 100m sprinter.
The Audi RS 7 would complete the elevated task by driving up the Jebel Hafeet mountain, which has a height of 1,249 metres while Yasin would be taking the elevator in a tower with a height of 829.8 metres. The one who reaches the peak first wins.
