Your weekly dose of car news: Honda Civic launched, Tata Altroz revealed, Wagon R CNG and Geneva coverage

What a hectic week it has been. At the biggest auto show of the year, the Geneva Motor Show, we saw many futuristic concepts, electrified powertrains and important vehicle reveals. Meanwhile, Honda finally launched the Civic in India. And we also saw the inclusion of CNG option in the Wagon R. Here is everything you need to know about the week gone by in our weekly roundup:

1.Tata Altroz/Altroz EV and Buzzard revealed:

Tata has taken the wraps off the all-new Altroz premium hatchback at the Geneva stage. Based on the same IMPACT 2.0 design language as the Harrier, the Altroz measures 3,988mm with a wheelbase of 2,501mm. The Baleno and Elite i20 rival is set to arrive in India around the festive season.

Tata H7X is the Buzzard: Essentially a seven-seat version of the Harrier, the Buzzard is 62mm longer than the five-seat model. The Buzzard is named so for a bird of prey from the Buteo family of raptor birds.  It gets the same interior and exterior design as the Harrier, but with the addition of a third row and two more seats. 

2.Honda Civic launched

The much awaited Honda Civic has finally gone on sale in India for a starting price of Rs 17.69 lakhs (ex-showroom all-India) and it goes all the way to Rs 22.29 lakh. The D-segment sedan is available with petrol-CVT and diesel-manual powertrain options across five trim levels. It is feature loaded as well and it goes up against the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis.

3.Maruti Suzuki Wagon R CNG introduced at Rs 4.84 lakhs

Following the launch of the new-gen Wagon R in January, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the CNG option for the hatchback. The Wagon R CNG can be had in two base variants – LXI (Rs 4.84 lakhs) and LXI (O) (Rs 4.89 lakhs). The CNG option is limited to the 1.0-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

4.India car sales analysed: February 2019

Car sales are usually bleak in the first quarter of the year, mostly due to price hikes and the lack any kind of festive season discounts. February 2019 wasn’t any different and car sales for most of the car manufacturers were slightly lower than expectations. Nonetheless, the top three positions were held by three leading Indian car manufacturers. Read on to find out.
