Mahindra has launched the automatic variant of their flagship SUV, the XUV 500 down under. The car will be a full export and will join the ranks with the manual transmission XUV, which is already on sale in Australia.
Mahesh Kaskar, National Manager of Mahindra Ag & Auto Australia said, “The XUV 500 Automatic with its numerous features and competitive pricing, is a great package. We are confident that it will be well accepted in Australia and will be a game changer for Mahindra’s automotive operations in the country.”
The XUV 500 Auto will be offered in two variants – 2WD W8 and AWD W8. The 2WD will be available for $31,900 (15.65 lakh) and the AWD version is priced at $34,900 (17.1 lakh). The Automatic gearbox is sourced from Japanese firm AISIN and is fast and reliable unit. The XUV will continue to be powered by the 2.2L m-Hawk engine which produces 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. Australia spec models will also get all black interiors as opposed to the half black and half beige interiors on the XUV being sold in India.
Mahindra enjoyed resounding success with the XUV in India and it remains one of the best-selling SUVs around. Its combination of good looks, a powerful diesel motor and a feature-packed interior proved to be a homerun. The XUV 500 Automatic will be sold in Australia through Mahindra dealerships itself.
