Williams Martini Racing has entered into a strategic partnership with communication services company, BT Group. Under the agreement, the two associations will join forces to facilitate secure and high speed communication network for the British Formula One racing team.
Though the partnership was announced just last week, Williams Martini Racing and BT had begun working together right from the end of the 2014 season. The technical collaboration will ensure a seamless network for the employees which enable higher speed access to critical information about the car and the team. The network will also facilitate big data computing processes, including applications relying on video, telemetry and voice. Besides, the Williams Mercedes FW37 Formula One car will also feature BT logos on the headrests.
Commenting on this partnership, Sir Frank Williams, team principal, Williams Martini Racing, said, “Williams and BT share a number of synergies that have been the driver for establishing a formal partnership. We rely on technology innovation to stay ahead of the competition, have a love of data, are quintessentially British but with a global perspective, and place a premium on strong communication for business success. BT excel in these areas and with their products powering our communications and data networks, we are well placed to make important strategic decisions in a faster and more collaborative way.”
This year’s Formula One season begins on March 13, and the first race is scheduled at the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit in Australia.
