Subaru’s VIZIV concept has been the pole star for the fanboys of the legendary rally-car maker because it will spawn the new Impreza or the WRX. Now, with the Geneva auto show just a couple of weeks away, Subaru has teased the VIZIV Tourer concept which outlines a wagon. And suddenly the almost dead dreams of a potent wagon have come alive.
Subaru had stopped building the Impreza wagon when the third generation of the rally-ready car was designed to be a hatchback. Later when the Impreza came back in sedan form, Subaru still chose not to build a wagon. That is understandable given the limited number of wagon buyers in the current SUV crazy market.
The VIZIV concept, which debuted in Tokyo last year, is a show-stopper when it comes to looks and design with edgy lines and intersecting planes creating a vivid visual drama. And when we imagine the tourer with the same lines, we can be sure that Subaru will certainly have another show-stopper in Geneva.
Now, the VIZIV is expected to become reality, the future WRX, by 2020 and if Subaru is serious about the Tourer concept, even the wagon might follow suit. Here in India, we long to see atleast the concepts as there are clearly no signs of Subaru coming to India in the near future at least.
