Hyundai had launched the second-generation Fluidic Verna back in May 2011 and it has been quite successful. With the current facelift, the Verna has been equipped with redesigned alloy wheels, projector headlamps and daytime running lamps. But now, with the new City, the SX4 and the Linea facelift around the corner, it is possible that Hyundai might display its facelifted 2014 Verna at the Auto Expo.
The 2014 Verna will only be a facelift of the current car with a few cosmetic changes and quite resembles the 'Verna RB concept'. The car features an updated grille, a redesigned headlight cluster, a bumper on the lines of the Hyundai Mistra (sold in China), new alloy-wheels and a sunroof along with some minor changes to the rear. Interiors are expected to remain largely unchanged. Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) and ABS with EBD.
The facelift will retain the current Verna’s engines options. As a petrol variant, the Verna is currently available with either a 105bhp, 1.4-litre or a 121bhp, 1.6-litre engine, while the diesel variants come with either a 89bhp 1.4-litre or 126bhp 1.6-litre engine. The engines are mated to a five-speed manual for the petrol and a six-speed manual for the diesels or an optional four-speed automatic gearbox.
The hatchback version of the Verna was launched at the 2013 Guangzhou Auto Show and the sedan, called ‘Rena’ in China’, has been spotted testing a few times. The Indian market may get to see the 2014 facelifted Verna only after its China debut.
