BMW’s famed M division is responsible for iconic cars like the M3 based on the 3 Series and the M5 based on the 5 Series. But, they are yet to make an M7 based on the company’s flagship model, the 7 Series. According to Carsten Pries, product head, BMW M division, there is demand, real demand for an M7.
He claims, real demand might not be significant demand with a question, are there enough buyers to, “make such a project a priority ahead of other potential projects?”
“We always have more ideas than resources,” said Pries saying the brand needs to, “stay focused and prioritise.”
These statements clearly indicate that even though there might be an interest for the M7, the company seems to be focusing on other projects.
The idea being not to invest in something that might sell in low numbers. On the other hand Mercedes’ S-Class has a sinister AMG version S63 and S65 AMG, which might also not be a volume seller making BMW’s enough buyer policy a little out of place. Also, Audi is rumoured to be working on an RS8. Although, they haven’t indicated at making an M7, we never know what the future holds.
