Road Safety Week is being celebrated from 1st January 2010 to 8th January 2010. The WIAA (Western India Automobile Association) jointly in association with the Transport Commissioner & Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, will be organizing Road Safety Week from 1st January to 8th January 2010 and will be conducting the following programmes at Marine Drive, outside Islam Gymkhana:-
1] Free PUC check ups.
2] Free brake fluid test.
3] Free battery and electrical check ups.
4] Free reflective films to be put up on commercial vehicles.
5] Free eye-testing camps and free distribution of spectacles as prescribed by the examining doctor.
6] Etching of vehicles throughout the week.
7] Blood donation camp.
8] Safe driving classes on driving simulators.
9] Safe driving classes for taxi drivers, truck drivers carrying hazardous goods, school bus drivers and BEST bus drivers throughout the week.
10] Drawing-cum-slogan competition for children at the WIAA Traffic Childrens’ Park at Cooperage & Ghatkopar on Saturday and Sunday.
11] Free training to school bus drivers.
12] Distribution of helmets for school children.
The FIA Foundation based in UK has also joined in this year and will be distributing free 500 helmets for school children who go to school on two wheelers with their parents. WIAA is also going to distribute 400 helmets which are imported from Vietnam. They are also distributing 5000 banners to all 45 RTO offices in Maharashtra with Road Safety slogans.
WIAA will also be distributing free helmets to school children who commute to school on two wheelers in Gujarat, Goa and Rajasthan. Their offices in Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Nagpur and Kutch will be observing Road Safety Week as well.
