Land Rover has launched the all new Discovery in India and the range begins from Rs 71.38 lakhs and goes on all the way to Rs 1.08 crores for the top-of-the-line HSE First Edition diesel. There are five petrol and diesel variants and all of them get an eight-speed AT and LR’s very capable Terrain Response AWD system. Believe it or not, this is Land Rover’s new flagship vehicle and it does quite a bit to hold the flag high. Here then are some of the highs and lows of buying the all new Land Rover Discovery in India.
What’s good about it?
The Discovery is big on presence, features and literally like an oversized (muscular not fat) mountain goat will climb or descend onto any surface without breaking too much of a sweat. What’s more, you could be going 45 degrees on the side of a rocky mountain but still be cocooned in leather, high quality plastics and enough electronics aids to make you feel like you are playing a video game.
What’s bad about it?
It is big on presence and this means in our urban environment, the Discovery will be a handful to navigate and park. What’s more, you are always going to be stressed about parking it on the road as someone is bound to leave their ‘signature’ on it. Also, the interior is fully loaded up but feels very similar to that of the lower priced Discovery Sport.
The best variant to buy
We would recommend the HSE variant as you get most of the features and all the safety bits that make this car worth buying.
