- Based on the Hyundai Inster’s K1 platform
- Will share the design with the ICE Syros
Kia India recently revealed the Syros SUV for the country, with prices expected to be announced in the coming month. This all-new B-SUV sits between the Sonet and the Seltos and has distinctive styling and a feature-packed cabin.
The design of the Kia Syros is a lot reminiscent of an EV with a blanked-off grille, flush-fitting door handles, smooth body panels, futuristic-looking alloy wheels, and vertically stacked high-mounted taillamps.
In its current form, the Syros can easily be mistaken for an EV due to its design aesthetics. The Kia Syros is built on the K1 platform, which is also used for the brand's globally sold Inster EV. While the Syros is a sub-four-meter SUV like the Sonet, it offers a longer wheelbase and more interior space than the latter. Additionally, the Syros is better equipped with features compared to the Sonet and offers some functionalities that even the Seltos lacks, such as rear seat recline and ventilation.
The Syros EV is expected to be launched in India within two years, sharing its specifications with the Inster EV. It is anticipated to feature a 42-49 kWh battery pack, providing a driving range of up to 400km on a single charge. The Syros EV is likely to be introduced at an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 16-20 lakh, positioning it as a competitor to vehicles such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
