What you need to know about the Datsun Redigo

 The newly launched Datsun Redigo starting at a price of Rs 2.49 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai) has emerged as a new rival to Alto 800, Eon and the Kwid. The new car is available in five variants – D, A, T, T(O) and S. Interested customers can choose from five interesting colour options like - white, silver, grey, ruby and lime. Datsun claims that the Redigo, the unique urban-crossover, has been styled in Japan but developed and manufactured in India.

The Datsun Redigo is powered by a 0.8-litre three-cylinder i-SAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology) engine which comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The fairly powered engine generates about 53bhp of power at 5678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4386rpm. The newly launched vehicle claims to return a fuel efficiency figure of 25.17kmpl. The car reportedly is capable of achieving a top speed of 140kmph and is capable of accelerating  from 0-100kmph in about 15.9 seconds. 

In terms of dimensions, the new Datsun Redigo measures 3429 mm in length, 1560 mm in width, and 1541 mm in height. The tall boy design has helped it offer a good ground clearance figure of 185mm. The car gets a decent 222-litre boot capacity. As for safety, the top-end S variant gets driver side airbag and daytime running lamps as standard. The T(O) and S variants get 2-DIN audio system, USB and AUX connectivity, CD player and front power windows. Basic features like power steering is available from T variant onwards, while AC is available in all except the base D variant.

For better ownership experience, Datsun has offered attractive 2 year/unlimited kilometres standard warranty. It also comes with an optional warranty for 2 or 3 years/unlimited kilometres with free roadside assistance. This gives Redigo owners the option of benefitting up to 5 years/unlimited kilometres warranty coverage. The company claims to promise the lowest cost of ownership which is about 32 per cent lower than the competition. Convenience of roadside assistance is provided free of cost with both standard and extended warranties.
