What you didn’t know about Maruti’s new Dzire

Maruti Suzuki took us around their Manesar factory last week to give us an idea of how their new Dzire is put together, and you can read more about that here. Now, in the process of showing us around their production facility, Maruti Suzuki also gave away some interesting details about the new Dzire. 

As everybody knows, high-tensile steel is used in the construction of the new Dzire’s body. But how much exactly? Maruti disclosed that while the earlier Swift Dzire is crafted using 20 percent high-tensile steel, the new Dzire will incorporate up to 36 percent of high tensile steel. And this includes the new HEARTECT platform. Now, as a result of this, the thickness of the doors and body panels have reduced. Since the whole procedure brings down the weight of the car considerably, it translates into increased fuel efficiency. Similarly, the HEARTECT platform is also rich in high-tensile steel, which in addition to making it lighter, also makes it more rigid. This allows the new Dzire to already adhere to the safety norms for frontal and side impacts that are to come into effect in the year 2019. For the record, Maruti Suzuki’s models such as the Ertiga, Ciaz, Baleno and the Swift are also compliant to these norms.

Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki uses advanced robotics to build the new Dzire at the Manesar plant. The car maker disclosed that 104 new high-speed robots (C-series) are put into action to build the new Dzire, and these are claimed to be 15 percent faster than the earlier robots (B-series). We were also told that there are more than 102 types of wiring harnesses, and more than 30 types of speedometers that are used in just one model! The new Dzire will be available in three new colours and we were able to spot an attractive shade of brown which the carmaker called Sherwood Brown. For those of you who didn’t know, Maruti will continue to sell the current Swift Dzire as the ‘Tour’ model for taxi operators.

Maruti Suzuki’s Swift Dzire has led the compact sedan segment until now, and according to the company’s projections, the new Dzire will likely pick up from where the earlier car left, and also sell substantially more in the future. While they are all-geared up to launch the New Dzire tomorrow, we believe that the new car has the essence to fulfil Maruti Suzuki’s expectations.
