Japanese automaker Honda has been working on the new CR-V for quite a while now. Recent test mule images indicated that the next-gen model will be longer and bigger than the current one. The upcoming next-gen CR-V will be offered with seven seats.
Reports from AutoExpress have indicated that the new Honda CR-V will get an additional wheelbase measuring about 80mm along with an increased length of about 50mm. This additional space accommodates a third row seat comfortably. The current CR-V model which sells in India measures an additional 20mm at 2,620mm more than the City sedan.
The next-gen Honda CR-V is expected to be offered with a range of modern safety features. While under the hood it will get new engine options in the form of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit, and the diesel might get a tweaked 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. It is believed that the Japanese automaker might also offer a 2.0-litre VTEC Turbo engine option.
Offered with more space and new engine options, the new CR-V prices are likely to be higher than the current model. Prior to its India debut, the next-gen model will be offered in the international markets. With the new model in works, post launch, Honda can make a fresh attempt to evoke more response from the local audience.
