Earlier this year, the German automaker BMW introduced the updated 3 Series in the country. Taking it to the next level, BMW will launch its performance version - 3 Series Gran Turismo - in the country tomorrow. The automaker will position the upcoming model between the 3 Series and the 5 Series. Loaded with impressive styling and performance, the new 3 GT is expected to be a popular pick in the country. Moreover, it does not have any direct competitors for now.
In comparison to a regular BMW 3 Series, the GT version is about 190mm longer, 79mm taller and about 17mm wider. As for the design aspect, the kidney grille on the front, smoothly flows onto the new pair of LED headlamps. The revised bumper houses fog lamps on two horizontal slats. The rear gets a bigger LED tail lamp assembly. The exterior though measures a little bigger than its regular version, it does not lose out on the charm of a 3 Series.
Speaking about the interior, the new BMW 3 GT will offer premium leather upholstery, additional chrome garnish on controls, wood-finished panels and a raised seating position by about 59mm. Rear seat passengers get better legroom and the company claims that it can comfortably seat up to three passengers. The car offers a boot space of about 520 litres which can be increased to about 1,600 litres with the rear seats flipped down. The dashboard will also sport an infotainment system.
BMW offers the GT version in the international markets with an array of five diesel and three petrol engine options. However, in India the German automaker is expected to offer a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 182bhp of power and 360Nm of torque. A petrol option might however be introduced at a later date. In the international market, the diesel engine variants generate between 148bhp to 309bhp, while the petrol engines options generate between 182bhp and 322bhp of power. Additional details about the vehicle will be known tomorrow.
