Hyundai has launched the new generation Verna in India at an introductory price range of Rs 7.99 lakhs to Rs 12.39 lakhs (all-India ex-showroom). The new model is available in E, EX, SX and SX(O) variants and in 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. This time around, Hyundai is offering four more colour options for the Verna – fiery red, flame orange, polar white and siena brown. Hyundai Verna E (Rs 7,99,900 - Rs 9,19,900)
The base Verna E variant is available in petrol and diesel engine options. Both the engines are limited to a six-speed manual transmission. In terms of safety, equipment like driver, passenger airbags and ABS is standard across all variants. The E variant gets halogen headlamps, chrome front grille, day and night rear view mirror, metal finish inside door handles and auto down (driver only).
At this price, car buyers have a choice to opt for the base diesel variant of the i20 Active or the top-spec petrol SX variant which is loaded with height adjustable driver’s seat, cooled glove-box, 2-Din audio system with 1 GB internal memory, climate control system, cruise control, a second power outlet, reverse parking assist and a clutch lock. Maruti’s premium hatchback, the Baleno offers the top spec Alpha in petrol and diesel engine options. Moreover, customers looking for an automatic can also opt for the Zeta variant in petrol. The performance-focused Baleno RS in manual is also offered in the same price range.
Hyundai Verna EX (Rs 9,06,900 – Rs 11,39,900)
One variant above, the Verna EX gets parking assist, a five-inch touchscreen audio system, steering wheel with audio controls and a manual AC with cluster ionizer. The EX variant also gets a rear AC vent, leather wrapped gear knob and steering wheel, auto up-down (driver only), cruise control and a clutch footrest. The EX variant offers the six-speed automatic transmission option in petrol as well diesel engine.
In this price range, Maruti Suzuki offers the top spec Dzire ZDI Plus in manual and AMT options. The top-spec trim gets a flat bottom steering wheel with a wood insert, rear AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/Mirror Link. Car buyers can also opt for the top spec Toyota Platinum Etios VXD which gets a touchscreen display along with electrically operated wing mirrors and steering mounted audio controls.
Hyundai Verna SX (Rs 9,49,900 - Rs 12,61,900)
Hyundai Verna SX is limited to petrol and diesel engine options in manual, while the SX+ is available only in diesel automatic. In addition to all the features in the EX variant, the SX trim additionally offers electro chrome rear view mirror, projector headlamps, cornering lights, LED DRLs and positioning lights. The variant also gets LED taillights, R16 diamond cut alloy wheels, electric folding mirrors and seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
At this price, a buyer can easily find cars that are loaded with features. The Ciaz, which is a competitor to the Verna is available in top spec Alpha petrol automatic right up to to the top spec S Hybrid in diesel. The car gets keyless entry and start, Aux-in, USB, Bluetooth streaming with telephony, automatic retract for the ORVMs, reversing camera and a navigation system. It also gets a sunshade for the rear windscreen. Interestingly, customers can also opt for the Volkswagen Polo’s top-spec GT TDI Sport trim for the same price which comes with rain-sensing wipers, push-button start and electrically folding wing mirrors. The Vento Highline Plus in petrol automatic and Highline diesel automatic are also similarly priced.
Hyundai Verna SX (O) (Rs 11,08,900 – Rs 12,39,900)
The top spec Verna SX (O) gets an optional petrol automatic transmission, while the diesel variant is limited to a manual transmission. In addition to all the features from the lower variant, the SX(O) additionally offers smart key, rear defogger with timer, chrome outside door handles, leather door centre trim and auto link.
At this price, customers can opt for the newly launched Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo in petrol automatic and diesel automatic transmission options. The car is available in two dual-colour options: red with black roof and white with black roof. Inside, it gets 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel covered in black perforated leather and red stitching. The gearstick also comes in black leather with red stitch lines. In line with the theme, the leather seats also features a black/red design with grey vertical strips. Honda’s popular seller, the City offers the mid-level V in petrol automatic and in diesel manual guise. The VX variant, second from the top, is also available in petrol manual.
