Mahindra has refurbished their entry-level offering, the KUV100, and added the NXT badge to it. The petrol trims start at Rs 4.39 lakhs, ex-showroom for the K2 trim, going all the way to Rs 6.4 lakhs. The diesel begins at Rs 5.39 lakhs and the top-sped K8 diesel gets a price tag of Rs 7.33 lakhs. So, if you are planning to spend anywhere between Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs to buy a car this Diwali, here is what you need.
At Rs 4.39 lakhs, for the entry-level KUV100 NXT K2 petrol, you can opt for the Tata Tiago XM (O) or the top-spec Renault Kwid 1.0-litre with AMT. In case these two are a bit too compact for you, you have the option of looking at the Maruti Celerio or the Wagon R, which are priced almost at par with the Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
For the price of the K2+ KUV100 NXT, the Honda Brio and the Nissan Micra are all available, but in their base trims. While the KUV might have a few more features and that SUV façade, each one of these options are much better engineered and will certainly fare better on the road in terms of dynamics.
Next in line is the K4+ at Rs 5.24 lakhs. At Rs 5.39 lakhs, you could opt for the diesel in the base trim as well. At this price point, you have the option of looking at the Tata Tigor, a compact sedan that will offer you decent cabin as well as boot space. You can also look at the entry-level trims of the Maruti Suzuki Swift or the Ignis along with the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Toyota Etios Liva.
Moving up, the petrol K6+ and the diesel K4+ are priced closely at Rs 6.04 lakhs and Rs 6.11 lakhs respectively. At this price, the gates to the premium hatchback segment open up giving you access to cars like the Maruti Baleno, the Hyundai Elite i20, the Honda Jazz and VW Polo.
The K8 petrol is priced at Rs 6.40 lakhs and the K6+ diesel comes in at Rs 6.95 lakhs. In this price range, you can get mid variants of the Ford Figo, the Swift, the Grand i10 and more B-segment hatches. This is also the price band where the compact sedans make much more sense compared to a hatchback that poses as an SUV. At Rs 7.33 lakhs, the price of the top-spec KUV100 NXT diesel, you can opt for the base Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Tata Nexon and sedans like the Toyota Etios as well.
