The new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift has finally been launched in India. The range is priced between Rs 4.99 lakhs to Rs 8.29 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available with petrol/diesel and for the first AT/MT options across both fuels. There are 12 variants across two engine and gearbox options. The petrol is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit producing 81bhp/113Nm while the diesel mill is a 1.3-litre unit producing 75bhp/190Nm. Both engines can be had with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. In our coverage, we have spec compared it to the Grand i10, spoken about it in context of its direct rivals and now we tell you what else you can buy for the price range of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Maruti Suzuki Swift LXi- Rs 4.99 lakhs
This is the entry-level variant of the car and for this kind of price you can have the entry level version of the Hyundai Grand i10, Mahindra KUV100 NXT as well as higher spec versions of the Alto K10, Wagon R and the Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki Swift VXi- Rs 5.87 lakhs, LDi- Rs 5.99 lakhs
The VXi is the mid-level petrol variant while this is the price point where the diesel range begins and that too with the LDi variant. Here you can have the Tata Nexon petrol in the XM variant or the diesel in the XE base version. Also in the fray is the entry-level Honda Amaze E petrol as well as top-of-the-line Tiago XZ diesel.
Maruti Suzuki Swift vxi AMT- Rs 6.34 lakhs , ZXi- Rs 6.49 lakhs
This the price point for the Swift where the much coveted AMT models step in and the first one to join in is the VXi AMT. The top spec petrol manual ZXi model is available here and is priced marginally higher. In this price bracket you can have the Nexon in the XE diesel trim, top spec Tigor XZ (O) diesel, Hyundai i20 Era 1.4 diesel, Honda Amaze E diesel and the Brio in the VX AT trim. Finally, you can also have the Volkswagen Polo in the Trendline diesel variant.
Maruti Suzuki Swift ZXi+- Rs 7.29 lakhs, Vdi AMT-Rs 7.34 lakhs, ZDi- Rs 7.49 lakhs
We have now moved into the upper section of the Swift variants and you can have the top spec diesel or petrol model that are only priced Rs 20,000 apart. Also in this price bracket is the VDi AMT variant.
Here you can have the Hyundai i20 Magna Executive, Honda Amaze 1.2 S AT petrol, KUV100 K8, Etios Liva VXD dual tone and the Polo highline Plus 1.2. Excluding the i20, all the other cars are top spec variants of their respective models.
Maruti Suzuki ZDi AMT- Rs 7.96 lakhs and ZDi+- Rs 8.29 lakhs
These are the top spec variants of the new Swift but there is no AT option for the ZDi+ or for that matter, the ZXi+ variant either. For the price of these models, you can have the Nexon XT diesel, i20 Asta petrol, i20 Active 1.2 SX, Amaze 1.2 VX AT, Ford EcoSport Ambiente diesel, Honda jazz S diesel, Mahindra TUV300 t4+, Toyota Etios VD and finally, the Etios Cross in the V variant.
