Volkswagen Malaysia has started taking orders for the new Volkswagen Passat and prices range from RM 160,000 to RM 199,000 (Rs 24.40 to 30.34 lakh).
VW’s latest Passat is built on the MQB modular architecture which makes it 90kg lighter than the previous generation, and the boot space has also been bumped up by 21 litres (586 litres). Powering the new Passat for the Malaysian market will be the 180bhp 1.8-litre direct-injection petrol motor with a seven-speed DSG, and a 220bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that’s mated to a six-speed DSG gearbox.
Volkswagen’s latest Passat will come equipped with features like dynamic chassis control (changes driving characteristics on the go), electronic differential lock, lane assist and park assist in both parallel and perpendicular parking situations. There’s also the sensor-equipped, keyless operating boot lid that opens automatically when the driver’s foot is detected beneath the rear bumper.
VW India is all set to launch the Passat GTE hybrid soon, so stay tuned to Carwale.
