VW T-Cross SUV spotted testing in Europe

Looks like everybody is headed to winter test their prototypes in the cold weather conditions of northern Finland. It was just yesterday that our photographers shot the Aston Martin Vanquish in the same country.

Back to the VW T-Cross now. This SUV is based on the Polo, so it will also be underpinned by the MQB platform. Interestingly, sources suggest that the T-Cross will however be dimensionally similar to the bigger Golf. That aside, this compact SUV will borrow design cues from both the Polo and the larger T-Roc SUV, the highlight being the familiar wide grille. Reports also state that the production ready T-Cross will ultimately be available in showrooms with a variety of two-tone contrasting paint shades. This is a trend that’s getting popular in the segment thanks to rivals such as Nissan’s Kicks and the Hyundai Kona.

Although VW hasn’t disclosed the engine details, sources safely assume that it will use the Polo’s engine line-up, thanks to it being based on the latter. Not to forget that while the base variants will have front-wheel-drive, there’s a probability that the range-toppers may be equipped with an optional 4WD too.
