Volkswagen launched its first compact car –the Polo in early 2010 in India. The carline has since then won several laurels while catapulting the brand’s sales in the country. Recently it has been ranked as the Best Premium Compact Car in Initial Quality by J.D Power Asia Pacific. The Polo ranked the highest in its segment in the J.D Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) that measures product quality.
Commenting at the awards ceremony recently held in New Delhi, Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited said “In today’s extremely competitive market, voice of the customer is one of the most important factors to understand. J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2011 India Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) is a step towards assessing the product quality from the customer’s perspective and at the same time benchmarking the product with key competitors in the market. Since the results of the J.D. Power are based on actual responses from customers, an accreditation by them proves that we are moving in the right direction and our efforts to fulfil the demands of our valued customers are paying off.”
The 2011 India Initial Quality Study (IQS) done by J.D. Power is based on evaluations from more than 8,000 owners who purchased a new vehicle between November 2010 and July 2011. The study was fielded from May to September 2011 in 20 cities across India. The Polo is ranked highest by achieving better quality performance in its segment.
