Volkswagen will launch the 2014 Polo in a couple of days time and meanwhile, a local website has put up clearer spy images of the car.
Inside the cabin, the major change that will greet anyone is the new flat dish three-spoke steering wheel. The steering wheel looks well designed and gets better looking buttons in comparison to the current car. The instrument cluster is retained with minor changes like the multi-information display is more detailed and is no more red. The dashboard layout is similar, but now gets two-tone colours instead of the black only theme of the old car.
The Polo will now get a new 1.5-litre TDI engine with different power outputs – 89bhp and 104bhp. The Polo was offered with two three-cylinder 1.2-litre engines, one petrol and diesel. The diesel is on its way out, but the petrol will be retained. Another petrol engine on offer will be the turbocharged 1.2-litre which will be used in the GT TSI. The more powerful 104bhp diesel engine will be exclusive to the GT TDI model.
The new car will be launched on July 15, 2015 and our sources have revealed that VW will launch the entire range which includes the GT models (petrol and diesel). Although, we expect VW to give minor styling changes to the GT models in the form of different alloy wheels addition of DRLs, the German car maker may stick to the same theme to save costs. But, we would be surprised if this does happen. We also wish for a sporty exhaust system for the TSI.
