Volkswagen is bracing up to launch the facelifted Polo soon, meanwhile, sales training documents of the vehicle have been leaked online. The image reveals the choice of powertrains and the power rating of VW’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine that will be introduced in the Polo.
The leaked image reveals the power output of the Polo with the new 1.5-litre TDI engine with different power outputs – 89bhp and 103bhp. The Polo was offered with two three-cylinder 1.2-litre engines, one petrol and diesel. The diesel is on its way out, however the petrol will be retained. Another petrol engine on offer will be the turbocharged 1.2-litre which will be used in the GT TSI. The more powerful 103bhp diesel engine will be exclusive to the GT TDI model.
The cosmetic changes in the new Polo includes a redesigned front bumper with a chrome strip running across the air dam. The new headlights are double barell units, the fog lamps are new, and the tail-lights get minor changes. The front grille layout is similar to the old car, but it only gets a single chrome strip at the bottom. The 10-spoke alloy wheels are new and look classy.
Inside the cabin, the major change is the new three-spoke steering wheel. The steering wheel looks well designed and gets better looking buttons in comparison to the current car. The instrument cluster is retained with minor changes like the multi-information display is more detailed and is no more red. The dashboard layout is similar, but now gets two-tone colours instead of the black only theme of the old car.
The updated Polo will be launched on July 15 and we expect the pricing of the car to go up by at least Rs 25,000 to 30,000. The 2014 Vento which is also set to make its debut this year will get this new 1.5-litre diesel engine that will make its debut in the Polo.
