Volkswagen India homepage is showing a new car under wraps that looks like the soon to be launched Cross Polo. Although VW is still divulge any details of the new beefed-up hatchback, we know more than a few details of the Cross Polo thanks to few spy shots and now showroom pictures courtesy IAB.
The reports are that there will be only one variant of the Cross Polo – Highline TDI diesel, which will cost around Rs 60,000 to Rs 75,000 more than the standard top-end diesel Polo hatchback. The Cross Polo will be powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with power rating of 74bhp and 180Nm. Also unlike the Skoda Fabia Scout, the Cross Polo will be a sub-four meter vehicle and continue to get tax benefits of the small cars.
The fresh sets of photos are also accompanied by details of the features list. The Cross Polo gets new ‘Cross’ bumpers and grille, black cladding for wheel arches, silver roof rails, along with Cross Polo badging at the back. The other changes include new alloy-wheels and silver painted ORVMs The car is a bit longer than the standard Polo due to bulkier bumpers, but sits on the same 185/60 R15 tyres.
The Cross Polo is practically the same car as the Polo hatchback, albeit rugged appearance. We think VW will limit the production run of this model to add a bit of exclusivity – just like with the Polo GT TSI and continue adding premium variants to the list. Next launch Polo GT TDI?
Edit: The Volkswagen Cross Polo has been launched Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)
