Porsches in India have so far been imported by Precision Motors with the blessing of parent VW, but the German marque will now be officially imported into the country by parent company VW under a new company, Volkswagen Group Sales India. The current network will remain, while the new company will take up the reins of distribution operations from Precision Motors, but the latter will still have a retail and after-sales presence.
Porsche expects India to be one of the major growth markets from across the globe. With upcoming models like a small SUV that will compete with the likes of the Audi Q5 and a sedan that will compete with the Mercedes E-Class, it isn't hard to see the brand's heritage - not to mention models that will be far more affordable - making it rack up the numbers in our market. The first two models to be launched after the new company’s takeover will be the new 911 and the Panamera diesel.
