Volkswagen will launch its first electric car, based on the ‘Up!’ concept in 2010. This is part of VW’s endeavour to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of its vehicles.
In addition to the all-electric Up!, the new Golf will be available with stop-start technology, the new Touareg will go from the fire-breathing diesel V10 to being a full hybrid, capable of motion on its electric motors alone. A Jetta plug-in hybrid is also on the cards. Nearer home, the Jetta will be launched in the Indian market in a ceremony in Mumbai on the 16th of July.
